Everyday moves with bands

Everyday function · Resistance bands · 20–30 min

The same real-life movements, with a band for the pushing and pulling. Bands are proven to improve everyday function — and they live happily in a drawer.

How to do it

2 rounds of everything (3 on the Ideal plan), 8–12 controlled reps. Stand up briskly on the sit-to-stands — speed helps function most.

The exercises

1

Sit-to-stands

2–3 × 8–12

Brisk on the way up, gentle on the way down.

2

Band rows

2–3 × 10–12

Strong pulls keep posture tall.

3

Band chest press

2–3 × 10–12

Like pushing a heavy door open — with authority.

4

Band deadlifts

2–3 × 10

Perfect practice for picking things up safely.

5

Step-ups

2–3 × 8 per leg

Drive through the heel; use the rail as needed.

6

One-leg stand

2–3 × 20–30 sec per leg

Progress: fingertips → no hands → eyes closed.

Good to know

Anchor the band to a door hinge or heavy furniture at chest height for rows and presses. Check it's secure before the first pull.
